Full (Water-)Speed ahead for Lindner in Austria
Active environmental and climate protection are issues that also accompany the Lindner GmbH, an Austrian subsidiary of the Lindner Group, every day – in our ongoing projects, as a responsible employer an das part of the municipality of Baden.
Currently, the Austrian subsidiary is implementing a very special project in cooperation with the municipality in Baden: a modern small hydropower plant that is being built at the historic Wiener Neustadt Canal (in operation since 1803). It is scheduled to be completed in spring 2019. The existing canal area and the surrounding area will only be affected slightly, so that the historic bypass can be revitalised.
The large-scale plans for this have already been completed in summer 2018 and worked out in cooperation with the suggestions of the residents and the Lower Austrian provincial government. In September 2018, the works began on the already existing lock 17 at the Wiener Neustadt Canal. The generator and the hydrodynamic srew, which is a special construction for the Neustadt Canal, will be installed in spring 2019, including noise protection measures for the local residents. As part of the “Climate Model Region Baden” project, the municipality Baden now generates approximately 880,000 kWh of electricity from green electricity plants, which corresponds to the requirements of 320 single-family houses.
Thereby, the Lindner GmbH has an active share in the energy revolution in Lower Austria. Since 2018, 100% of the electricity has been generated from renewable energies. After completion of the small hydropower plant, it is expected that the Lindner subsidiary in Baden will be able to obtain around 200,000 kWh of green electricity from the plant together with the local building yard.
