Lean through Breakfast
The international consulting firm Drees & Sommer organised a breakfast seminar focusing on “Lean Construction Management”. Lindner was invited to present practice-related case studies.
What can be achieved with Lean Construction Management (LCM) is demonstrated by numerous successful examples, including the Neue Börse Zürich. The Roche H4IT project in Kaiseraugst also aimed to create the most efficient construction process possible, which is why Drees & Sommer was commissioned by Roche to introduce LCM. For Lindner, as an interior fit-out contractor, this was an opportunity to use and deepen the experience gained in this field. This led to a committed cooperation that ultimately resulted in a very good project.
Based on this shared experience, Drees & Sommer invited the Swiss branch of Lindner AG in Opfikon to present the findings and best practice methods to an expert audience of around 70 listeners. On the basis of current LCM projects such as the BMW FIZ in Munich, where they also work very closely and successfully with DreSo, and the New Stock Exchange in Zurich, where the LCM was introduced by Lindner, the audience was informed in a precise and detailed presentation about the advantages of constructions with LCM. Both the importance of the “Last Planner System” and the interpersonal factors were expressively conveyed. In a subsequent panel discussion, it was finally discussed how to generally increase productivity in the construction industry, in particular with the tools LCM and digitization. The general consensus is that people will still be the focus of attention. At the same time, it is imperative to “pick up” all those involved in the project, because only if all parties make their important contribution to LCM can the entire system succeed. This results in particular demands on the moderation of the LCM, which can only be successful in the construction process with a lot of experience and tact. In summary, it was agreed that through the regular exchange between actors LCM ensures better work preparation and allows a more efficient process on the site.
