After six years of construction, the Munch Museum Oslo opened its doors last month: the capital of Norway thus received a new landmark for the works of its most famous artist, designed by the Spanish architecture firm Estudio Herreros. Lindner produced 4,018 metal panels for the building's façade.

13 floors, 58 meters height and 26,000 m² total area for the works of the expressionist painter and graphic artist Edvard Munch – including a version of the world-famous painting ‘The Scream’: The museum, which rises next to the opera house in the fjord, manages a collection of 42,000 objects in total.

Lindner Metal Panels on Glass Façade

For the architectural cladding of the unique building, Lindner supplied a total of 4,018 pieces of sinus-shaped, perforated metal panels. The elements are made of 3 mm thick aluminum with invisibly welded crescents ranging in thickness from 3 to 8 mm. 100 of them can be opened and secured with ropes to lift art work safely over the facade into the building.

The aluminum component gives the glass façade its special and unique character: the metal elements act as sun protection without compromising the feeling of transparency in the building – during the day, the Munch Museum appears to be encased in a white shell, while at night it glows from within.
