Apprentice Project: Manufacturing of Break Time Areas

For more than ten years, Lindner's apprentices have been taught in the company's own training workshop, learning important basic craft skills as well as technical ones. Creativity is also on the schedule on a regular basis: A collaborative project of the apprentices recently resulted in new break time areas for the production area at the headquarters of the company in Arnstorf, Germany.

Practical Learning in the Training Workshop

Around 330 apprentices from the technical/industrial sector have been trained in the basic courses since the introduction of the workshop for the craftsmen apprentices in Arnstorf in 2009. Prospective Metalworkers as well as Tool Engineers and Industrial Mechanics learn filing, sawing, drilling and welding in a four-month course. Technical System Planners and Electricians for Industrial Engineering complete a basic metal course during their apprenticeship.

Creativity and Manual Dexterity Required

During the basic courses, the apprentices were allowed to carry out both their own and collaborative projects: For example, they designed individual fire bowls for home – these were planned and calculated from individual parts, cut from sheet steel and then welded.

Their colleagues in the production sector are now also benefiting from the successful collaboration between the young people: In a collaborative project, the Metalworker apprentices manufactured new break pavilions – this included sawing and drilling the individual parts, welding, grinding and assembling the side parts and finally fastening the trapezoidal sheet metal and sheet metal edge parts with blind rivets. Of course, for a relaxing break, seating is a must: It was realised by the prospective Technical System Planners.
