Cradle to Cradle® certification for Plafotherm® Heated and Chilled Ceilings
“Products that leave no waste and thus remain in a closed cycle”; this is the approach behind the Cradle to Cradle® design concept. After several successful product tests for Lindner floor, partition and ceiling systems, the Plafotherm® Heated and Chilled Ceiling System series has now also been Cradle to Cradle®-certified and classified in the "Silver" category.
The suspended Plafotherm® ceiling system consist of prefabricated modules, composed of powder-coated metal ceiling panels and, if necessary, acoustic inserts, as well as a substructure and integrated heating/cooling technology on the back of the ceiling panels. Cold or warm water flows through the panels, which thus do not require any refrigerant. The Plafotherm® metal ceiling panels are manufactured by Lindner in Germany at the headquarters in Arnstorf, Bavaria. This is where they get their powder coating, too – in a closed water cycle. In the category "Water Stewardship", Cradle to Cradle® Platinum was, inter alia, achieved.
The ceiling system contains a high proportion of recycling material. Moreover, the material components of Plafotherm® produce extremely low emissions: Material health – including the origin, production and impact of the materials used – is one of the five categories in the Cradle to Cradle® test catalogue. The raw materials and ingredients used for the products are carefully examined for the "Material Health" certificate. They are tested for possibly harmful substances that could have a negative impact on humans during production, assembly and later in use. Lindner bases the development, production and utilisation of its product systems on a similar philosophy.
Apart from the good material properties, Plafotherm® Heated and Chilled Ceilings ensure a comfortable and healthier climate with great heat transfer. If required, they can also be combined with a ventilation component for an even distribution of supply air. The ceiling systems are not only energy-efficient and low-maintenance, they can also contribute to sound insulation. Thanks to a variety of different surface finishes and design options, the ceiling system adapts to individual room design and the wishes of architects, customers and us.
