Division Building Services Engineering: Into the Future with Lean Construction
One year after its reorganisation as an independent division within Lindner AG, the division heads Roland Berger and Hans Peter Stussak are quite content. Currently, eight construction projects are being executed by their team, which has grown to a staff of 30.
The division Building Services Engineering focusses on tenant fit-out, shopping centres and office buildings. This range includes large-scale projects such as the extension of the BMW Research and Innovation Centre (FIZ) in Munich, the renovation of the Otto Group Headquarters in Hamburg and the redevelopment of the Gropius Passagen Berlin. The range of services of Lindner Gebäudetechnik includes a complete portfolio of building services ranging from Heating, Ventilation, Sanitary, Air Conditioning and Sprinklers to Electrical Engineering.
As a part of the redevelopment of the Otto building, Lindner AG and its Building Services Engineering department have been chosen as the general contractor for the interior fit-out, including building services, of six storeys with 4,500 sqm of floor area each. A novelty in this context is the project management with assistance from Lean Construction Management. This approach is benefitted by the circumstance that Lindner Group had always used synergies between specialist departments and emphasized a structured and comprehensive project management organisation. Through a proactive and integral planning of all work processes and the involvement of builders, architects and planners in daily project organisation, installation works are optimized and a more efficient cooperation between works enabled.
