Modern, open and sustainable – this is the motto of the new DFB Campus in Frankfurt am Main: Lindner was also involved in the interior fit-out of the new building, including glass partitions and wall cladding, to create a central location for top German sport and a new home for amateur football.

Using Synergy Effects

With the building project, the German Football Association has brought together various functional areas in one location: The 49,365 m2 site now houses an academy with training and further education facilities for elite athletes, football coaches and referees, as well as athletes' rooms, catering areas and a multi-storey car park. The DFB Campus is complemented by sports facilities such as a fitness and regeneration area, a football hall, a multi-purpose hall and several outdoor sports areas.

Honeycomb and Silver – Bespoke Wall Cladding

A particular highlight of the interior design is the Lindner Group's project-specific wall cladding in the building's boulevard: consisting of pentagonal panels, the design of the wall cladding is reminiscent of the honeycomb structure of a football. More than 300 panels were installed by Lindner and complemented by two LED screens in the wall surfaces. The high-quality metal cladding highlights the moments of German football shown on the screens. Additional gold-coloured and foiled metal wall panels provide visitors with an overview of the DFB and its member associations. The modern character of the Academy is rounded off by Lindner's grey metal wall cladding in the corridors around the lifts in the Campus Boulevard.

Sound Insulation with Felt

With several hundred press conferences a year, the German Football Association also needs appropriate rooms with suitable acoustics at the new campus: Lindner therefore installed wall cladding with grey felt slats on the walls of the press conference room. The acoustic felt absorbs any disturbing noise and ensures a pleasant sound inside the building – even when a large number of press representatives and athletes are present.

Unlimited Spaces

At the same time, the Life Contour 126 glass partitions installed in the building's conference and dining room create spaciousness and a bright atmosphere: These were designed to be impact resistant and fire resistant to comply with building regulations and the safety requirements of the German Football Association. Other partition systems in the Academy's administration and office areas provide transparent room division, openness and an elegant appearance. Here, Life Pure 620 butt-joint glazing has been used in combination with timber portal doors and concealed frames. A real highlight is the double glazing in the boardroom areas, which has been designed as 'electrochromic glazing'.
