Lindner subsidiary BEMO, a specialist for façades and roofs, is part of a hotel project with 42 unique aluminium cocoons on the estate of the Château des Pères in Brittany, France. These will serve as hotel rooms in the future and offer a breath taking view of the surrounding nature.

Unique Hotel Complex

The hotel is located about 30 km from Rennes and is expected to open in March 2022 under the name "L'Essenciel". The unusual architecture stands out from the landscape: surrounded by 31 hectares of green space, guests can stay here in "floating" aluminium cocoons. Each cocoon encloses an individually designed, high-quality hotel room. With its extraordinary design, the property is expected to attract tourists in the future.

Architectural Innovation

The concept of the building was inspired by the structure of a tree: the cocoons are each connected to a 27 m high tower. The aluminium shells form a combination of the patented BEMO MONRO standing seam technology and the three-dimensionally adjustable BEMO DOME substructure: As a first step, the coil-coated aluminium coils are cut to fit exactly, then the sheets are rounded into the shape required for the building. This precise production technology is unique.

The highest safety standards, especially with regard to fire protection, were a priority in the design of the hotel complex: after three years of planning, all requirements for seismic standards, wind resistance, fire resistance and sound insulation were finally met. This was achieved through the collaboration between BEMO's engineers and 3D designers and the architectural firm Agence Unité in Nantes.
