Lindner Group to Showcase Circular Concepts and Products at the German Pavilion, Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan
From 13 April to 13 October 2025, the World Expo will take place in Osaka, Japan. Spread across 1.55 km², 150 countries and 25 international organisations will come together under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” to present their visions for implementing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Over the course of six months, Expo 2025 is expected to welcome around 28 million visitors, offering a unique platform for exhibitors to present their country and their ideas for a more sustainable future to the world.
The German Pavilion will focus on one of the key themes of a sustainable future: the transition to a Circular Economy – an economic system based on closed loops, with more efficient value chains and zero waste. Closed biological and technical cycles are essential to achieving future-fit, sustainable business practices.
A Pioneer in Circularity: Lindner Group to Speak at the German Pavilion
This is a topic the Lindner Group has been deeply committed to for several years and has made a core strategic goal. The company was therefore delighted to receive an invitation to give a talk on Circular Construction at the German Pavilion during Expo 2025 in Osaka.
The invitation came at the recommendation of Datty Ruth, founder of Smarter Habitat, who had been approached by the host of the German Pavilion – the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action – to present a lecture on innovative solutions in the construction sector. To provide a broader perspective on the industry, Ruth proposed showcasing the Lindner Group as a best-practice example for circular building.
Healthier, Simpler, More Sustainable: Building for the Future
Smarter Habitat, led by Datty Ruth, promotes a radically future-oriented approach to building: modular, demountable structures made from natural, healthier, and reusable materials, designed according to closed biological cycles. His work draws inspiration from the Cradle to Cradle principles developed by Professor Michael Braungart and American architect William McDonough.
Championing Circularity: Lindner Presents LinLoop at Expo 2025 Osaka
Representing Lindner Group, Florian Klüpfel – Head of Lindner Interior Product Supplies – delivered the technical and industrial perspective of Cradle to Cradle during a one-hour presentation on 19 and 20 May at the Cultural Stage of the German Pavilion. His talk focused on system products for interiors and façades, as well as their application in commercial buildings such as modern office environments.
Under the name LinLoop, Lindner has developed its own strategies for keeping building products in use across multiple life cycles. These include:
Participation in Expo Japan was a particularly special experience and honour for both Lindner and Florian Klüpfel:
"This was a unique opportunity to present our commitment to sustainability on an international stage – and to demonstrate how we are actively driving the transformation of the construction and property sectors with our own circular ideas and innovations."
