Resource-efficient construction and the circular economy are among the key challenges facing the construction industry. The construction and operation of buildings account for 35 to 40% of CO₂ emissions and waste generation in Germany and Europe.
As one of the leading full-service providers for interior fit-out and building envelopes, the Lindner Group has been combining product development, production and project management with a consistent commitment to sustainability for over 30 years – as demonstrated by verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), the Cradle to Cradle Certified® product standard and more than 500 green building projects supported worldwide.
At Lindner, sustainability is not a reaction to market trends, but a corporate philosophy put into practice: as early as the 1990s, we began systematically aligning our products and processes with environmental compatibility. In 2007, we co-founded the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB); a year later, we established our in-house Green Building department – now known as the Sustainable Construction department.
Since then, we have continuously expanded our expertise in green building management, building certification (including DGNB, LEED and BREEAM), life cycle assessment and CO₂ footprint calculation. Whether it’s a new-build project or the refurbishment of an existing building, we support architects, planners and clients from the initial concept phase right through to the final documentation.
Circular construction means managing materials and products within closed-loop systems – rather than disposing of them after a single use. For us, this is a key driver on the path to climate neutrality in the building sector.
We don’t like waste. That is why many of our processes at Lindner are already aligned with the R-strategies, with the aim of conserving resources and closing value chains:
• ReDuce: Continuously reducing energy, water and material consumption in production and assembly
• ReThink: Designing products to be flexible, modular and dismantlable so that they can be adapted to changing usage requirements. Business models and services are geared towards the circular economy, e.g. buy-back, rental options or remanufacturing of used products
• ReUse: directly reusing dismantled system products without refurbishment
• RePair: individual components are specifically repaired, replaced or upgraded.
• ReFurbish: Refurbish used components and introduce them into a new life cycle; for example, our LOOP raised floor panels, which have a CO₂ footprint up to 75 per cent lower than that of new products
• ReManufacture: Dismantled system components and materials are incorporated into a new product
• RePurpose: Individual components and materials are given a new function in new products.
• ReCycle: Sorting by material type at the end of the product’s service life and high recycling rates in accordance with defined processes

Sustainable building products combine functionality and quality with environmental responsibility. As a full-service provider and manufacturer, we have control over the key factors ourselves and precisely coordinate the individual components and materials, as well as the trades and services involved in interior fit-out, the building envelope and building services. We know what goes into our products and we know where we stand.

As a comprehensive provider, we cover the entire value chain: we develop, advise, manufacture, construct and also dismantle. We refurbish used products to reintroduce them into a new cycle.
From needs assessment through planning to documentation, we support you at every stage of your construction project – using digital tools such as BIM, 3D laser scanning, CO₂ calculations and digital material passports as the basis for urban mining and closed-loop material cycles.
Meeting tomorrow’s requirements today: Based on recognised standards such as the Cradle to Cradle Certified® product standard, we drive forward ecologically safe raw materials, renewable energies and concepts promoting closed material cycles in production.Our NORTEC aurum and LOOP aurum raised floor panels, as well as the LMD aurum metal ceilings, have been the first floor and ceiling systems worldwide to be awarded the C2C Certified® Gold Standard since early 2022. The Plafotherm® heating and cooling ceilings and Lindner Life glass partition walls bear the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver seal.
Through our actions, we contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions in Germany in accordance with EPD data. A key aspect of this is striving for a closed-loop material cycle – entirely in line with the principles of the circular economy: this includes not only the potential for direct one-to-one reuse of our systems, but also the reprocessing of used products into new systems, as is the case with our LOOP prime and LOOP aurum raised floors.
