Complementing our facade portfolio, Lindner offers system solutions in mullion-transom construction for demanding areas of buildings and bespoke facade concepts. The construction is particularly suitable for large installation heights and spans, as well as for areas such as shopping arcades, penthouse facades or viewing galleries. Slender profiles enable generous glazed areas and a high degree of transparency. Whether in aluminium, steel or timber, different materials, profiles and finishes offer a wide range of design possibilities.
Mullion-transom facades consist of vertical mullions and horizontal transoms that together form the load-bearing structure of the facade. The construction enables large glazed areas while maintaining slender sightlines, making it particularly suitable for buildings where transparency and high levels of natural daylight are key considerations.
Lindner provides support with planning and technical design from the early planning stages. Services range from planning support in LPH 1 to 5, including structural engineering and building physics, through to the development of detailed and connection solutions and the planning of the installation concept. Interfaces with shading and ventilation are also taken into account.
A range of materials is available for the construction. Depending on the requirements, mullions and transoms can be made from aluminium, steel or timber; brass and composite materials can also be used. Different finishes, such as anodised finishes or powder coating, further expand the design possibilities.
The profile design can also be adapted to the specific project. Bespoke project-specific and new profiles enable solutions tailored to the architectural design and technical requirements of the respective building.
Slender profiles enable large areas of glazing and a high degree of transparency across the building envelope. At the same time, individual facade fields can be designed to suit the project, with different types of glazing, panels and opening elements combined.
Complex geometries, such as curved or angled facades, can also be realised using mullion-transom construction. Functional opening elements are selected and integrated to suit the facade system.
In addition to technical planning, Lindner also develops building connections and coordinates interfaces with adjacent trades. The elements can be prefabricated at the factory and installed on site in accordance with the project-specific installation concept. This enables transport, storage and installation processes to be coordinated efficiently.
The construction also offers advantages after completion: individual panes or profiles can be replaced if required. This enables localised repairs as well as subsequent extensions or modifications to the facade.
The technical design is tailored to the respective structural and building physics requirements. CE-compliant Declarations of Performance document the relevant product characteristics.
Material selection can also take requirements relating to material cycles into account. Depending on the project, recyclable materials and defined recycled content are available. This means that mullion-transom facades can also be planned with long-term use and subsequent recovery in mind.
