From 17 to 22 April 2023, after a four-year break, BAU took place again at the Munich Trade Fair Centre. Lindner presented itself under the banner of circular construction with circular business models and flexible space concepts in the tenant fit-out sector – Design & Build.

Lindner at BAU Munich 2023

The challenge of climate change, digital transformation, the future of living as well as resources and recycling – the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems was all about sustainability this year. Around 190,000 visitors from all over the world came to find out about innovations and trends in the construction industry from the 2,260 exhibitors. For Lindner, BAU was a complete success: many good discussions with existing and new customers and numerous international visitors are the result of six successful days at the trade fair. The Lindner Group also welcomed prominent guests such as Hubert Aiwanger. The Minister of State for the Economy, Regional Development and Energy visited the stand on the first day of the fair and discussed the importance of circular construction with Managing Director Franz Kagerl. Another highlight of the week was the stand party on Wednesday: With Bavarian music, beer from Schlossbräu Mariakirchen and culinary delights from Land.Luft Leberfing, the halfway point of BAU Munich was celebrated.

Visions of Circular Economy become Reality

Lindner also picked up on the key themes of BAU Munich at its stand and presented the LinLoop circular business models for the first time: With its "interior design as a service" approach, Lindner is taking a further step towards closed material and product cycles. This is achieved, among other things, by purchasing system products with a return agreement. The second option is a classic rental model: Lindner retains ownership of the product during the rental period, while the customer, for example a shop owner or office landlord, uses the interior. This not only improves the CO2 balance, but also saves the tenant dismantling and/or disposal costs. Lindner's complete tenant and office fit-out package includes all services such as planning, maintenance, conversion, installation and dismantling.

Other Highlights at the Booth

In addition to the circular business models and flexible tenant fit-out concepts, Lindner also presented other interior fit-out highlights at the fair, such as the recyclable MUTE+ ceiling and wall absorbers. The absorbers, made from materials tested for harmful substances and allergy-friendly in accordance with Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, are available in many different colours, shapes and fabric types, making them an all-rounder in terms of design, acoustics and sustainability. The new three-dimensional metal surface TRIdesign with its pyramid shape also created a wow effect on the stand. The exhibition portfolio was rounded off by the Lindner Life Fire all-glass wall with wood profile, the LOOP aurum and LOOP prime raised floor panels and other luminaire products.

Panel Discussion, Podcasts and more

Lindner used BAU Munich not only as a platform for talks, but also for a panel discussion and some video and podcast recordings. For example, Heinrich Büchner, Managing Director of the Lindner Group, was a guest on Gerrit Menke's CUBE podcast. Veronika Lindner was also interviewed by DIGITALWERK: the video cast for Messe München's new "BAU Insights" format will be broadcast in summer 2023. Another special highlight was the interview with DGNB President Prof. Amandus Samsøe Sattler on the subject of "Circular building from the DGNB's point of view". In a panel discussion, Marcel Gröpler also reported on the RessProKA research project: as part of the ReziProK funding measure of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Lindner, together with the Business Management Institute for Waste and Environmental Studies (BIFAS) and the Institute for Infrastructure, Water, Resources and the Environment (IWARU) at the Münster University of Applied Sciences, investigated the question: "How can building products in commercial premises be kept in circulation for as long as possible? The simulation laid the foundation for the Lindner Group's recyclable system products. The exhibition was rounded off by a series of architectural tours organised by Bauverlag and World Architects: Andreas Kronberger and Harald Mezler-Andelberg gave short talks at the stand to encourage exchange between architects and civil engineers on the subject of circular construction.
