New Build Education Centre at Hertinger Tor

The Education Centre at Hertinger Tor brings together a primary school, a kindergarten with family centre, a triple sports hall, and a central auditorium within a new, modern educational campus. The building sections are organised around the forum, which houses the workshop, technical areas, and the so-called regeneration kitchen. This spatial arrangement promotes openness, interaction, and easy orientation throughout the school day. A central atrium with play and stage stairs connects the different areas.
The kindergarten includes four group rooms with ancillary spaces, a multi-purpose room, and a central zone with additional functional rooms and a meeting point. In two other building sections, four learning clusters for the primary school are arranged over two floors. Interiors are deliberately calm, with a limited material palette and subtle colours.

Externally, the campus is defined by a vertically structured timber louvre facade. Large glazed areas between the building sections open the ensemble to the outside and highlight the division of functional areas. Sustainability is an integral part of the concept: incorporates timber modules, green roofs, photovoltaic systems, and electric vehicle charging stations.

Interior Fit-Out Focused on Functionality, Fire Safety, and Acoustics

A high-occupancy educational campus places particular demands on the interior fit-out. Different room types – learning clusters, group rooms, the forum, and auditorium – require solutions that are durable, integrate seamlessly into the architecture, and reliably support daily operations. Fire protection, sound insulation, and visual connectivity are central to ensuring safety, concentration, and clear orientation throughout the school and kindergarten.

For this project, the Lindner Group relied on coordinated system products to meet these requirements. Timber door systems and glass partitions complement the interior fit-out functionally and clarify the building’s structure in the transitional zones between different functional areas.

HTB 68 timber doors were used in both standard areas and fire-rated zones. Glazed inserts enhance visual connections in corridors, learning, and functional areas, supporting orientation within the building. In addition, HTB 41 T0 timber doors were installed, maintaining the calm material character of the interiors.

Transparent full-glass constructions using Lindner Life Stereo 125 systems combine sound and fire protection while enabling clear zoning without compromising light or visual connections. This created functionally distinct spaces that support focused learning and structured daily routines across the campus.
