Cœur Défense Office Complex, Paris

With a height of 161 m, 39 above-ground floors and a total floor area of around 350,000 m², Cœur Défense is one of the largest office buildings in the world and is regarded as the largest office complex in Europe. Designed by architect Jean-Paul Viguier, the building ensemble comprises two 160 m-high towers connected by a shared podium structure, as well as three additional building volumes, each approximately 40 m high. Its distinctive architectural language, characterised by curved facades, makes Cœur Défense an iconic landmark on the skyline of La Défense.

Tailor-made fit-out expertise

The Lindner Group has supported this project since the early 2000s across several fit-out phases. Particular focus was placed on the demanding requirements for modern, flexible and acoustically optimised office environments.

Across an area of 17,050 m², the LMD-B 100 SD linear strip grid ceiling system with tested longitudinal sound insulation was installed. This ceiling system is ideally suited to dynamic office concepts and stands out due to its visible strip grid, which gives the spaces a clear, elegant structure. At the same time, it offers functional advantages: partition walls can be fixed directly to the strip grid, enabling room layouts to be adapted flexibly at any time – from open-plan offices to enclosed individual or team offices.

A key quality feature of this system is its high degree of adaptability to the architectural form of the building. With radially arranged strip grids and trapezoidal ceiling panels, the ceiling follows the curved lines of Cœur Défense. The low installation depth allows space-saving integration of technical services, while the ceiling panels can be removed without tools for inspection and maintenance work.

The generously daylit office areas, with their expansive glazed facades and views across Paris, are given a clear spatial framework by the linear strip grid ceilings. They structure the open spaces while also contributing to a noticeable improvement in room acoustics. The integrated longitudinal sound insulation therefore creates ideal conditions for focused work.

In addition to the ceiling works, the Lindner Group was responsible for the complete fit-out of the office areas. Precise execution, high craftsmanship quality and close coordination with the existing building structure were decisive factors in the successful completion of the project.
