Lighting Retrofit at the Haus der Bayerischen Wirtschaft

Located in the heart of Munich, the hbw | Haus der Bayerischen Wirtschaft is one of the city’s prime venues for national and international conferences, conventions and business events. The modern conference centre combines functionality, architecture and atmosphere at the highest level – with 13 flexibly configurable event rooms across three floors, including spacious halls equipped with cutting-edge digital technology and exclusive meeting areas offering panoramic views over Munich.

As part of a comprehensive modernisation of the lighting systems, the entire building received a new, future-proof lighting installation. The aim of the retrofit was to preserve the high-quality ambience of the hbw while significantly improving lighting quality, energy efficiency and sustainability.

Tailor-made LED Luminaire Solutions

Lindner Leuchtenfabrik took on the complete design planning and production of the new luminaire systems – a total of 150 custom-made LED special luminaires, manufactured at the Lindner site in Mettenbach. The basis for the design consisted of precise client specifications, covering everything from diameter and installation height to millimetre-accurate integration into existing concrete formwork.

To meet the aesthetic requirements, a special manufacturing process was used: the metal component of the luminaires was not stamped but precisely formed using a metal spinning technique. This meticulous process ensures maximum dimensional accuracy and a clean housing geometry with a white powder-coated light shield. Implementation was carried out in close coordination with the on-site electrical contractor to ensure seamless integration and trouble-free installation.

As the previous light sources could no longer be used due to legal regulations, the switch to LED technology offered a sustainable and future-proof solution. The retrofit significantly reduced energy consumption and maintenance requirements while improving durability, efficiency and lighting quality – all perfectly matched to the architectural characteristics of the building.
