In the course of an internal change of the laboratory use, a fire safety inspection was carried out in a research facility in Munich-Martinsried. It turned out that the existing structure in the shafts was insufficient to meet the requirements of the research building. The Department of Structural Fire Protection at Lindner Bautechnik GmbH was commissioned to develop a concept for fire safety certification.
At the beginning, an inventory was taken in a sample shaft. On the basis of this detailed documentation, a reorganization concept was developed, which was approved after close coordination with the technical expert of the construction project and carried out by Lindner Bautechnik. This is how a first sample shaft was created. Subsequently, a tender could be drawn up by the architects, which described the resulting renovation work. These included:
Lindner Bautechnik finally won the contract for this large-scale refurbishment of 195 technology shafts. In addition, the company's own door system Fireshield I90 offered a suitable system for the shaft doors from a single source. The execution turned out to be challenging because the entire refurbishment had to be carried out in night work because of ongoing operations. Additionally, in order not to impair the laboratory conditions, housings with suction devices were built.
