Hollow floors

A hollow floor is a solid, non-removable floor construction with an encapsulated cavity, specifically designed for the concealed installation of technical services such as electrical wiring, data cables, or air conditioning. Unlike a raised access floor, where individual panels can be removed at any time, the hollow floor forms a continuous, monolithic system with defined access points — such as floor boxes or inspection hatches — through which the service void can be accessed.

Thanks to its homogeneous surface and high stability, hollow floors are particularly common in office buildings, educational institutions, conference centres, and public buildings — essentially wherever a durable, visually seamless surface is desired alongside an efficient technical service void.

Despite its solid construction, a hollow floor offers surprisingly high flexibility. Although the surface—unlike with a raised access floor—cannot be opened arbitrarily, strategically placed access points provide targeted and convenient access to the technical installations beneath. Even retroactive modifications, such as adding extra power sockets, network connections, or control cables, can be easily carried out.
