Luxottica is one of the world's leading companies in the design, manufacturing and distribution of fashion, luxury and sports eyewear. During the comprehensive refurbishment of Luxottica's headquarters in the heart of Milan, the demands placed on interior fit-out, room acoustics and building technology were exceptionally high: the systems selected had to reflect the iconic brand identity of a global corporation in one of the world's most influential cities for fashion and design.
The renowned Milan-based architecture firm Park Associati was commissioned to create a workspace that combines architectural innovation with the highest standards of user comfort. Open-plan office environments dominated by glass and concrete surfaces present well-known challenges for room acoustics and thermal comfort – two performance criteria that are increasingly central to modern commercial fit-out and office interior design.
For this demanding office project, Luxottica and Park Associati selected the Weave Radiant Textile Panels. The system is installed across corridor ceilings as well as the ceiling area above the main entrance. The construction is based on copper pipes mounted on aluminium carriers, enabling uniform and energy-efficient radiant heat transfer throughout the space. A patented textile surface spans the radiant panels, making the entire system fully thermally conductive – delivering optimised thermal comfort with measurably reduced energy consumption.
A key advantage of the Weave system is the significant reduction of air-based mechanical systems, which substantially lowers ambient noise levels. The result is a quieter, higher-quality indoor environment – particularly effective in open-plan office acoustic design where hard floor finishes and extensive glazing typically amplify reverberation.
Strategically positioned columns structure the space without visually dividing it, adding architectural height and a sense of openness. Custom-fabricated, curved ceiling elements in a trapezoidal configuration seamlessly integrate lighting and air outlets while following the elegant curve of the building facade. The outcome is a continuous, flowing ceiling design of the highest architectural standard throughout the entire building.
The Luxottica Milan project demonstrates how contemporary commercial interior fit-out can unite technical performance with architectural ambition in a single integrated solution. The Weave Radiant Textile Panels set new benchmarks for architects, project developers and clients seeking sustainable office fit-out solutions that combine outstanding design with verifiable energy efficiency.
