Finding an adequate location for Bad Vilbel´s new library proved to be a difficult task. The refurbishment of existing buildings was either too expensive or not possible at all, new constructions would have required too much space in the town centre. Finally, an ideal solution was found. The river Nidda flows through the town centre. It was decided that the library would be designed as a bridge between the town´s busy main squaire and the adjacent park, spanning over the Nidda. This concept is unique in Germany, which is why the library has been a visitor magnet ever since its opening. Its concept also comprises that the library is not merely a place where you may lend books, but one which invites to stay for a while. For this reason, an café and high-class furniture were fitted to the library bridge.

Due to the library´s fittings and furniture, including heavy bookshelves, its flooring system must be able to carry heavy loads. For this reason, the especially powerfull system FLOOR and more® power was chosen. It has excellent load-bearing capacities while giving a large number of options in regard of functionality and design.
