Strandkai Hafencity - Construction Site 57

In the heart of Hamburg’s HafenCity, the “Am Strandkai” quarter is emerging as an exclusive residential neighbourhood right on the banks of the Elbe. Within this unique urban landscape lies Construction Site 57: one ring-shaped building complex comprising eight houses that enclose a spacious, partly publicly accessible courtyard.

Facade Architecture with Character

The Lindner Group supported the Construction Site 57 project with comprehensive facade expertise ensuring quality, aesthetics, and sustainability throughout all project phases. The entire facade structure of the buildings at Site 57 is based on a post-and-beam system with a striking architectural appearance. 

Characterful Brick Facades

Additionally, the facade gains a pronounced articulation and lively depth through projections, recesses, loggias, and balconies. High-quality steel railings accentuate the balconies, while elegant glass balustrades highlight the loggias and create transparency.

A distinctive feature is also the slightly projecting brick slips on the balconies, complemented by colour-coordinated balcony bands made from precast concrete elements.

The applied external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) with plaster and combed plaster finishes provides further design variety and high energy efficiency. It combines precise, handcrafted facade detailing with contemporary thermal protection.

Light, Space, Perspective

Lindner also manufactured and installed all window and door systems, which harmoniously integrate into the facade structure. The generously sized windows were deliberately chosen to create a bright, welcoming atmosphere in the living spaces, even on the north-facing side.

Special attention was paid to the flat roofs to minimise technical installations and to design the roof areas as generous open spaces for residents. Lindner ensured careful insulation and sealing throughout.

Efficient Construction

Balconies, terraces, and loggias were fitted with weather-resistant, durable floor coverings, enhancing both comfort and long-term usability of the outdoor spaces.
