New Parent-Child Centre at the University Hospital Bonn

With the construction of the new interdisciplinary centre for paediatrics and gynaecology at the University of Bonn, a forward-looking building has been created that brings together all disciplines of paediatrics and obstetrics under one roof.

Spread over five floors and offering a total of almost 12,000 m² of usable space, the clinic accommodates 164 patients and provides optimal conditions for close collaboration and family-friendly care. Special emphasis was placed on child-friendly architecture and artistic design – the building is divided into three trapezoidal quadrants with landscaped courtyards that create bright, welcoming spaces for patients and families.

Innovative Drywall and Fire Protection Solutions for the New Hospital Building in Bonn

As part of the project, the Lindner Group was responsible for implementing the F30 drop-slide LMD metal fire protection ceiling in accordance with DIN 4102-2, which is characterised by its innovative and practical design.

The freely spanned metal fire protection ceiling not only fulfils the F30 fire resistance rating but is particularly impressive due to its accessibility for maintenance: the individual ceiling elements can be lowered and shifted horizontally without the use of tools. This allows for large inspection openings of up to approximately 3,000 x 2,000 mm – all without the need for an additional ceiling void. This ensures fast and straightforward maintenance of the technical installations located above.

In addition, the Lindner Group was responsible for installing plasterboard ceilings and the LMD-E 300 corridor ceiling.

Efficient Construction Processes within an Existing Hospital Campus

The location of the new building between existing hospital facilities posed particular challenges for the construction process and required close coordination of all trades to ensure access to the surrounding areas throughout the construction period. Thanks to flexible planning and precise execution, the services provided by the Lindner Group were successfully delivered without issue.
