With the official inauguration of Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport in April 2026, one of Europe’s largest privately financed infrastructure projects has entered operation. Built on a gross floor area of approximately 403,000 square meters, the state-of-the-art terminal complex offers an initial capacity of around 19 million passengers annually. The Lindner Group has played a central role in the realization of this landmark aviation project from the very beginning.
General Contractor Responsibilities at Pier G
At
Pier G, the Lindner Group acted as part of a consortium in the role of general contractor, delivering approximately 50% of the total project scope. Key responsibilities included technical and commercial project management, planning and coordination, as well as the supply and installation of all interior fit-out trades, including façade systems, roofing, and external works.
With a gross floor area of around 55,000 square meters, Pier G features a head building with 22 check-in counters, security screening areas, arrivals and departures zones, and retail spaces. It is complemented by a 375-meter-long pier with multiple boarding gates. Completed in just 31 months, Pier G was the first completed concourse of Terminal 3, delivered on schedule and to the highest quality standards. The project was executed using lean construction methodologies and digital project management based on Building Information Modeling (BIM).
A key technical highlight is the advanced chilled ceiling system developed by Lindner, covering nearly 6,000 square meters. Featuring innovative Y-shaped metal baffles, the system integrates all building services while meeting demanding requirements for cooling performance, acoustics, maintainability, and structural integrity. The system is engineered to comply with seismic zone 1 standards, demonstrating Lindner’s expertise in high-performance building solutions.
Comprehensive Interior Fit-Out Across the Terminal Complex
In addition to its role at Pier G, the Lindner Group delivered numerous specialist trades throughout Terminal 3 as an individual contractor. In the check-in hall, Lindner installed a self-supporting coffered ceiling with a cross-grid design, integrated chilled ceiling systems, interior façades, and high-end retail shopfronts.
Across the main terminal building, baggage claim areas, and central marketplace, Lindner provided extensive interior fit-out services. These included fire protection ceiling systems, metal ceilings, heating and cooling ceiling technologies, door systems, and complete shopfitting solutions for retail areas. The company also contributed significantly to Piers H and J, as well as the Passenger Transport System (PTS) building.
Longstanding Presence at Frankfurt Airport
Lindner Group’s involvement in Terminal 3 builds on more than two decades of continuous activity at Frankfurt Airport. At Terminal 1, the company recently delivered specialized ceiling systems and metalwork as part of the PTS connection project. In addition, Lindner fully executed the VIP lounge in Building 222 to five-star standards, showcasing its expertise in premium interior fit-out and high-end architectural solutions.
